St. Frances Academy is a co-educational high school located near downtown Baltimore. The school was founded in 1828 to teach the children of slaves to read The Bible.  St. Frances Academy is the oldest Catholic educational institution with African-American roots.  The high school is owned and operated by the Oblate Sisters of Providence.

Graduation Requirements:

In order for a student to graduate from Saint Frances Academy, they must complete the following successfully:

  • 10-Page English Research Paper
  • Community Service Hours and 7 Page Reflection Paper
  • American Government Power Point Presentation
  • Science Project

In addition to these requirements, a student cannot have any outstanding bills and must be financially cleared by all departments (Athletics, Bookstore, Community Service, Discipline, Family Partnership Program, Guidance, Tuition) before they are cleared to participate in the graduation ceremony. A senior must also pass all classes including conduct. Seniors who fail courses or fail to meet requirements must make them up in summer school. These students will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony in June, but may receive a diploma privately. For more Information refer to the St. Frances Academy Handbook.

 

Summer School Requirements:

If a student fails a course for the year, it must be made up in summer school. If the student does not make up a failed course in summer school, the student may not be allowed to return to St. Frances Academy. The school will provide a list of approved summer schools.
