A wise Oblate Sister of Providence once said: "The more things change the more they remain the same." Over the decades our school has been known as St. Frances of Rome Academy, St. Frances -Charles Hall Upper School, and St. Frances Academy. The school's name has changed, but its commitment to quality education and strong relationships has remained.
Mission - The mission of the St. Frances Academy Alumni Association is to support, maintain, and promote St. Frances Academy in its pursuit of academic excellence and responsive needs to the students and its surrounding community, as well as strengthen the relationship between the school and its alumni.
Purpose - The purpose of the St. Frances Academy Alumni Association is to support and continue the vision that its foundress, Mother Mary Lange, implemented for St. Frances Academy School though faith in God that encompasses the values of integrity, respect, dignity, and high quality education. The Alumni Association ensures that graduates of St. Frances Academy become loyal supporters of the alma mater by actively engaging in the vision of St. Frances; become/remain ambassadors and advocates for St. Frances Academy; contribute through services, whether financial, charitable or volunteering in any capacity; support and recognize students, faculty, alumni and friends who demonstrate exceptional commitment and community service. The St. Frances Academy Alumni Association will ensure that all of its efforts and activities are consistent with the school's vision, values, policies, and procedures.
Membership - All graduates of St. Frances Academy are members of the St. Frances Academy Alumni Association. Being an active member of the Alumni Association allows you to stay connected to the school, faculty, and current students. Financial Contributions made by the Alumni Association support student scholarships, alumni activities, and other needs of the school. Graduates of St. Frances Academy are strongly encouraged to participate in activities sponsored by the Alumni Association throughout the year. In lieu of yearly membership fees, the Alumni Association must charge a conservative admission price to cover the cost of each event/activity. For those interested in paying for a one-time membership that will include sporting events and activities at St. Frances Academy please contact the Alumni Board/Development Office at 410-539-7030.
Alumni Board - Alumni Board Members are the lead officers of the St. Frances Academy Alumni Association. To be an Alumni Board Member you must be willing to be an active member of the Association. If you are interested in becoming an Alumni Board Member, please contact Melissa D'Adamo in the Development Office at 410-539-7030 or email at melissa.dadamo@sfacademy.org. Annual Fund - Alumni We Need Your Help! Please consider making a yearly gift to St. Frances Academy's Annual Fund. Your donation, in any amount that you are able to give, helps to support the mission of Mother Mary Lange and St. Frances Academy. Many of you are familiar with the larger gifts received by St. Frances, such as that from the Cosbys', the Campaign for Endowed Scholarships, and the Promise of SFA Campaign to build the school's Community Center and Gymnasium. While we are so fortunate and grateful to have received those contributions, we still need help. As many of you are probably aware, it is quite expensive to run an independent, Catholic School. The gift from the Cosbys supports scholarships that are endowed for the future. Contributions made to the Promise of SFA Campaign several years ago were used to expand SFA to include the much-needed Community Center and Gymnasium. To support day to day operation expenses we must rely on tuition and the generosity of our supporters. It is essential that we keep the lights on in the facility, heat the facility, make needed repairs and upkeep our facility, carry required insurances, have technology advanced enough to prepare our students for college and future, pay salaries for our dedicated lay faculty and staff, and purchase materials needed to educate students. All of these things are essential for St. Frances to continue to carry on the tradition of the Oblate Sisters of Providence. The cost to educate one student is $10,000 per academic year. Students are assigned a tuition amount from $5,000 to $9,000 based on their financial situation. As you know, the cost of Catholic education continues to rise. Many of you have heard about the multiple school closings throughout Baltimore City. As an independent school, St. Frances will remain an anchor in the Johnston Square neighborhood; however, we need help from friends and alumni to do this. Mother Lange would expect us to continue making Catholic, quality education accessible to those from all walks of life. Today, Catholic education in general is becoming less and less affordable even to middle class families. Please think about your experience at St. Frances Academy and how it prepared you for the future and provided you with values needed to build your personal foundation. Your donation to the Annual Fund helps to do this for other students.
