| Foundation |
| Established in 1828, St. Frances Academy (SFA) is an independent high school with African-American and Hispanic roots. St. Frances Academy serves as an agent of positive change within its community. |
| Vision |
| St. Frances Academy is a leader among urban American high schools through educational excellence and responsiveness to the needs of students and community. |
| Mission |
| Through its dignity and uniqueness, St. Frances Academy continues the legacy of Mother Elizabeth Lange, its foundress. St. Frances Academy, with faith in God’s Providence, provides the immediate neighborhood and the Baltimore area relevant educational programs which give all members a sense of their cultural heritage and giftedness by helping students and members of the community, particularly the poor and the neglected, to recognize, develop and live as respectful, responsible, and just members of God’s human family. |
| Philosophy & Beliefs |
| The Mission of the Oblate Sisters of Providence and therefore the Mission of St. Frances Academy is to provide, in an atmosphere of faith, a holistic and relevant educational program which gives its students a sense of their own individual dignity and self worth. The Oblate Sisters and St. Frances Academy have a particular concern for students with limited opportunities and difficult circumstances. |
| Therefore, St. Frances Academy is an inclusive institution with no restrictive entrance requirements. The school will accept any student who (a) wants to come and is able to come; (b) is willing to work and embrace the St. Frances Academy culture; (c) the administration feels can be helped holistically and realistically by the St. Frances Academy program and environment. |
| |
| The design of the St. Frances Academy educational program will aggressively address the many attitudinal, emotional, familial, and spiritual issues that impact upon the readiness of the students to learn while maintaining high academic expectations. |
| |
| St. Frances Academy will prepare students, especially those with difficult circumstances, for academic and professional challenges and successes by maintaining a nurturing and loving environment. |
| |
| St. Frances Academy will prepare students to think and behave as responsible and just members of God’s family. |
| |
St. Frances Academy will use a collaborative style of leadership and decision-making, from administration to the classroom, where all members are empowered and respected and invited to bring their giftedness to bear upon the benefit of the school’s educational program and community. |
St. Frances Academy will strive to be a place of refuge, hope, and salvation by maintaining a community of love, support and discipline, while working to instill in its members a sense of mutual respect and responsibility. |
St. Frances Academy will strive to be a place where students will have an opportunity to realize, develop, and share their potential with God’s human family. |
