VARSITY BOYS SQUEAK BY GIBBONS
IN O.T.

February 10TH, 2008

This was a game that neither team should lose, especially on Senior Day.  Gibbons met us toe to toe and the game ended up tied 64-64 at the end of regulation.  Wayne Sparrow’s big three was the difference in overtime as the team traded basket for basket.  It was difficult but we avenged our earlier loss to Gibbons at home.

Sean Mosley led the team with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.  Once again, he was able to make the key pass when double teamed.  All five starters were in double figures as Donald Washington had his best game of the year with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  He also had the defensive assignment of shutting down Jamar Briscoe, the leading scorer for Gibbons.  R.J. Williams contributed 12 points and 3 assists and Greg Lewis had 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Once again it was a total team effort which paid off with a victory.

With that victory, we closed the season in the Catholic League finishing in second place behind Mt. St. Joe.  With one more game in the MIAA (Friday versus St. John’s), the tournament play will begin.  Let’s continue to support our teams throughout the tournament.
