Sr. John Francis Schilling, OSP entered religious life in 1967. She joined the staff of SFA as an English teacher and counselor in 1984. In 1993, she accepted the roles of both president and principal. On August 1, 2005 she became full-time president.
Sr. John Francis Schilling has helped redefine the Academy's role as both a high school serving disenfranchised young people and a center of community.
As principal, she strengthened the high school's counseling department through a partnership with the Loyola College Pastoral Counseling program and increased enrollment to 340 in 2003 from 135 in 1993.
As president, she oversaw the fundraising and construction of a 33,500 square foot community center and gymnasium facility, established an endowment fund, and formalized community organizing programs.
A native of Rochester NY and graduate of Canisius College and Towson (State) University, Sr. John Francis is a basketball enthusiast.
