The Coppin University Helene Fuld School of Nursing School-Based and Community Health Center at St Frances is a full service medical center that provides primary care as well as urgent care to all students as well as to the community. The center is staffed by Nurse Practitioners, nurses, and medical assistants who are able to meet your student’s health needs while he or she are in school. Consultation with a physician and specialist are also available. The Clinic has an oncall service 24 hours a day/7 days week. For other than regular clinic hours, calling the clinic number will reach an answering service who will then contact the Nurse Practitioner to address your issue
If your student has a regular provider of health care, the object is not to change care from that provider but to supplement his/her care while in school. If your student does not have a regular provider, the Center will provide services to the student. All boarding student receive primary care from the health center.
The community including faculty, staff, and families of SFA students may also receive care from the health center
Compliance with immunizations is required by Maryland state law and no student will be admitted to school without up to date immunization status. Immunizations are available in the health center.
Prior to engaging in sports, all students must have a sports physical which is good for one year. They may be completed at the health center or at the student’s doctors, but a copy of the physical must be provided to the Health Center. No student will be allowed to compete without a clearance to play sports.
All insurance is accepted. If a student does not have medical insurance, the staff of the center will assist the student and parent to obtain health insurance. No student will ever be turned away because of lack of insurance.

- Referrals for x-ray and specialists as needed
- Preventative Dental Care for 9 months to 3 years old (referrals for other dental need)
All insurance is accepted. No insurance? - we will help you get insurance or use a sliding scale fee system as applicable. No student will ever be turned away because of inability to pay or lack of insurance.
