NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (NHS)
MOTHER MARY ELIZABETH LANGE CHAPTER
Unlike the honor roll, which identifies scholars who excel in academic accomplishments, the National Honor Society is an honorary title bestowed on scholars who demonstrate excellence in SERVICE, LEADERSHIP, CHARACTER, and ACADEMICS. Each academic year, this invitation only, nation-wide honors group is selected for induction into the Mother Mary Elizabeth Lange Chapter of the NHS.
Scholars meeting the following criteria will be considered for induction:
SERVICE
The scholar, with faith in God’s Providence, must participate in educational programs that help our community, particularly the poor and the neglected, develop and live as respectful and responsible members of God’s family.
LEADERSHIP
The scholar must demonstrate positive leadership qualities in the classroom and at school activities, as well as be respected by faculty as being honest and conscientious.
CHARACTER
The scholar must have an unblemished discipline record, which is an 80% discipline average each semester prior to consideration for induction.
ACADEMICS
The scholar must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 average through two of four high school semesters as a sophomore, or three of six high school semesters as a junior.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA)
The Student Government Association primarily consists of the elected officers for each class as well as other scholars who like to plan activities for the school.
THE SGA PLANS THE FOLLOWING EVENTS
Flag Football Competition
Fall Talent Show
Christmas Toy Drive
Christmas Door Decorating Contest

Each class meets monthly to plan class events like retreat, sophomore pinning, freshmen commitment, junior ring mass and senior inauguration.
